This photo is a little off-color, but this is me with my second guitar in its live performance debut at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison Colorado last Monday. IMHO, Red Rocks is THE premier concert venue in the country...but there might be others I don't know about.
There's really nothing like playing to a few thousand people with an axe you've just built yourself.

I'll have more detailed photos in the coming weeks of the guitar itself.

I finished the guitar this spring in Robbie O'Brien's Steel String class at Red Rocks Community College, but I just finished installing the pickups a couple weeks ago. They sound amazing. I'm not sure I'd ever put anything but the K&K trinity system in anything from here on out.
All of my other guitars (Larrivee and Yamaha) are now collecting dust, as the one's I've built in Robbie's classes are used almost exclusively. I can't wait for the next one.

J,
You are absolutly correct about Red Rocks. Natural setting, rock walls side and stage beautiful and have perfect accoustics. Many top acts, who usually perform in huge locations always return to RR, many once a year:Stevie Nicks, Dave Matthews,Moody blues,+Many others. And from the past, Stones, Allman Bros., Beatles.
John and Paul were quoted a few years after the performance that if they could play only one concert, it would be at RR.

Big fun, J.! Emoting of the highest order! That'll make a great publicity shot. So, are you playing solo or with a band? What was the occasion for a Monday concert; or do you just not need a reason for music in Morrison?

Very cool! Looking forward to seeing more of the guitar!

Red Rocks IS amazing. The only other outdoor venue I've been to that comes close is The Gorge in WA. And it doesn't come that close!

There is a concrete corridor under the stage that leads out and up to a secondary access in the amphitheater that is signed in sharpie by almost everyone who's played there. Pretty humbling to stand in the midst of History like that. I saw Paul McCartney's signature there. I signed mine next to Tom Petty.

Thanks, andy. Yeah, the florentine was a leap, and a cause of some great consternation and headaches, but I made it through.
Thanks again for your hospitality when I stopped by this spring.

It was for a summer concert series. There were 2 bands that night. We were one of them. Red Rocks isn't the kind of place that needs a weekend to draw a crowd to, as (almost) any day is a good day to play Red Rocks. www.redrocksonline.com for more info on the amphitheater.

If Robbie's classes continue on the path they're on, I think that just might be the case, Hesh.
